IIT Seminar Series: Joanne Slavin

*The Institute for Integrative Toxicology presents Dr. Joanne Slavin, University of Minnesota, to speak on, “From Policy to Plate: Communication Challenges and Opportunities,” on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in 162 Food Safety and Toxicology Building.

We all eat so we are all diet experts, or so we think. Dr. Slavin will discuss her journey from farmer, dietitian, Extension Nutritionist, and University of Minnesota Professor and successes communicating science to consumers, health professionals, government agencies, food industry professionals, and the media. We will discuss Ultraprocessed Foods (UPFs) as a case study and give advice on how you can develop your science communication chops.
