Research Interests:
My research interests are in the field of Neurotoxicology. Specifically, I am interested in studying how exposures to environmental toxicants, such as methylmercury (MeHg), may lead to molecular changes in homeostasis and contribute to neurodegenerative diseases. I am currently working in Dr. William D. Atchison's laboratory. My research interest is whether in-vitro of voltage-gated calcium channels and nicotinic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors are affected after low- and high-MeHg exposure. To addresss this, I use a single-cell microfluorimetry technique that allows me to record changes in intracellular calcium.
